Gold Cash Gold with Detroit Dining Club

Gold cash gold

It’s always a pleasure when to get together with my people at Detroit Dining Club. Meeting new people and seeing familiar faces in a relaxing atmosphere allows us to enjoy what we love most: food. Good food with great company is an opportunity I never miss out on and this time the choice of location was an excellent one. Gold Cash Gold, opened in 2015, is located at 2100 Michigan Ave in Detroit, Michigan in a retired pawn shop in the heart of Corktown. Looks can be deceiving from the outside; the inside is filled with open spaces and the tantalizing aroma of comfort food. I call it comfort food because almost everything on the menu looked appetizing to me.

Pawnbroker, cash, and loans are written on the outside of the building but inside, you’re in for a big surprise! The décor is classy and has somewhat of an historic look yet boasts its own style- Old exposed brick, simple seating with long wood benches, everything is clean and crisp. Canned goods line the wall for display because they are famous for their pickled brine. I must add that they were playing some good music; one of the people in our party even complimented about it.

We came for brunch; the menu wasn’t huge but it was filled with a variety of items that were hard to pick from. I wanted it all. Famous for their pickled brined fried chicken, I decided to order that along with waffles since it was one of their signature dishes. They had everything from doughnuts and cocktails, to breakfast favorites such as steak and eggs and biscuits and gravy. There were also some nontraditional items such as a black bean tostada and fried chicken Benedict and chilaquiles. During our meal we were seated by the bar and I watched the bartender make many Bloody Marys and some other wonderful concoctions.

The staff was very friendly and the food was great.

I found Gold Cash Gold to be a very enjoyable place for brunch and I’m definitely coming back to check out their dinner menu and enjoy some drinks sometime. I like the “trash to treasure” idea of someone turning this fading, old pawn shop into a popular eating spot. Gold Cash Gold is a place you could take your grandma or your best friends for great food and unique drinks. For more information and a peek at the menu, visit Goldcashgolddetroit.com.
